Known Model-Specific Characteristics & Our Findings

The Canon Autoboy2 model is known to have a few common characteristics we specifically check for:

• Electronics Reliability: Some Autoboy2 cameras can experience power issues due to battery contact corrosion or internal motor failure. Our inspection confirmed this camera powers on reliably and operated without sudden shutdowns throughout testing.
• Shutter Mechanism: Shutter malfunctions (stuck open or closed) can occur. We thoroughly tested the shutter, and it fires accurately at all speeds.
• Film Advance: Occasional issues with film advance or a stuck film counter, sometimes accompanied by a "buzzing" sound, are known. During our testing, the film advanced correctly after each shot, and no unusual noises were detected.
• Autofocus Performance: Autofocus failure or inconsistent focusing can be present. This camera's autofocus system was tested and found to be functioning precisely.
• LCD (Quartz Date models): Black bleed or corrupted segments on the date display LCD are common. As noted in our optics inspection, this camera's rear LCD does show black bleed at the edges. This is a typical aging characteristic for this specific model and does not affect camera operation.

Not Recommended For

This camera is not recommended for collectors seeking a cosmetically pristine item due to the visible signs of use and the LCD bleed.
