• Shutter Squeak: While a high-pitched squeal is common for this model, we did not observe any noticeable squeal or delayed shutter action during our inspection.
• Shutter Curtain Sticking: The shutter curtain operates smoothly and closes completely, without any signs of sticking.
• Light Meter / IC Failure: The light meter responds accurately to changes in light and shutter speed, indicating proper IC function without common failures like a stuck needle.
• Light Seal Degradation: This is a very common issue on nearly all AE-1 units. While not specifically replaced, we inspected the back door seals and mirror box bumper foam; they appear intact without significant stickiness or degradation that would prevent the door from opening.
• Film Advance Lever: We did not experience any accidental shutter firing at the end of the film advance stroke, nor any sticking of the shutter lock button.
